I hope he's curled up in a nice sunny spot in the hereafter. Be at peace.

I've been following Leo's story for a long time, and I'm so sorry for your loss.

I was forced to make the same awful decision that you had to make on June 8th of this year for my 17-year-old girl, Koshka, who had salivary gland cancer with it having also affected her lungs. She gave me the "look" a few days before... and I knew there was nothing more that I could do for her. May they both be happily roaming the meadows of Time...

I know this blog is over a year old, but I just stumbled across it and I wanted to thank you for posting your experience.

I'm now in the process of watching two of my four cats die. One is 18, and was a gift from my parents when I started kindergarten. The other is only 3 and a half years old. This spring, she was diagnosed with autoimmune hemolytic anemia after suddenly becoming incredibly lethargic. The vet said she was lucky to have survived, as her blood was more yellow than red. Last night, I took her to the vet after an abcess formed as a result of the prednisone suppressing her immune system. While there, the vet found what is likely a sublingual tumor. We thought the bad breath was somehow a result of the pred (which has made her act erractically anyhow). She's going for further tests in a week, but things don't look good for my littlest one.

It's been a big help to read what you've gone through, and to know what to expect as things progress. I couldn't find a whole lot that wasn't medically over my head, and it means a lot to know others have gone through the same thing.
